SalsaVancouver.net was established in 2005 by Stephen and Jennifer Dancey to provide comprehensive information about salsa dance classes and social dance events in Vancouver. We also run the Dancey Ballroom and Dance Studio, where we offer dance classes with some of Vancouver's best instructors as well as weekly social dance events. As well we organize special events such as Sunday Afternoon Salsa at Robson Square, a series of free, weekly, salsa dances held outdoors in downtown Vancouver every summer that has grown to become one of Vancouver's annual summer festivals and is the largest and most popular annual salsa event for salsa dancers in Vancouver. In addition we organize fundraiser events which strengthen community partnerships for the salsa dance community, including our annual Salsa For The Kids Fundraisers for The KidSafe Project Society. Salsa Bachata Tuesdays

The Tuesday Salsa Bachata events feature an even mix of salsa and bachata with some kizomba and other music for dancing.

Dancey Ballroom & Dance Studio is a stunning ballroom in a Romanesque Revival style heritage building on the corner of Hamilton and West Pender, near Vancouver's theatre district and historic Gastown area.

By Car: There is plenty of street parking available in the area, as well as many nearby parkades. The Pender & Seymour Parkade at 443 Seymour Street (NW corner of Pender & Seymour) is the best priced and only a couple blocks away | Translink: Two blocks from Stadium-Chinatown and Granville Skytrain stations and on or near many bus routes.

Featuring Guest DJ Ramon from the Dominican Republic this Thursday, February 9

Vancouver's only weekly Bachata night, featuring a mix of classic Dominican Bachata and Urban Bachata, with some Salsa and Kizomba.

Hosted by Ronald Martinez of Bachata Vancouver, the weekly Bachata Socials at Dancey Ballroom are a casual and relaxed evening of bachata dancing open to everyone, dancers of all levels from beginners to bachataholics are welcome. Ronald is available all evening to dance and help you with your bachata dancing. Please note there are no lessons or classes at this event.

Sunday Afternoon Salsa

Weekly, Every Sunday, 3pm-7pm

A casual Sunday afternoon salsa social dance. Friendly, non-intimidating, and dancers of all ages and all dance abilities welcome.

Admission is $5 for the dance (after 4pm, no lesson) or $10 for the lesson at 3pm (includes complimentary admission to the dance)

Salsa Lesson at 3pm: One-hour Beginner/Intermediate salsa lesson this Sunday February 5 with Sebastian and Yukiko of Salsa Kapow. The lesson costs $10 and includes complimentary admission to dance after.

About Steven Chanpong
Steven has been dancing bachata for many years. His speciality is Dominican Bachata and he has attended many international bachata festivals including the very first Dominican Bachata Festival in the Dominican Republic in 2011. In his pursuit to keep learning and improving his bachata dancing, he travelled to the Dominican Republic three times in the last year to learn from some of the best instructors in the country. Steven is also helping organize the bachata side of this year's Vancouver International Salsafestival. Assisting Steven in the classes will be Annina Kovanen.

Beginner Tango Workshop

If you've ever been curious to try tango then this introductory workshop is an ideal opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Argentine Tango, from steps, to posture, to the feeling of the dance. The workshop will focus on the basic elements of connection, ochos, sandwich and barridas, with fun exercises to understand the language of tango and how to have a dancing conversation with your partner.

Learn how to dance salsa in a day with instructors from three of Vancouver’s best salsa dance companies.

This intensive course has been designed to teach you the basics of salsa and get you dancing in just a few hours by building progressively on what you learn in a fun and easy-to-understand way. No partner necessary, doesn’t matter if you’re single or a couple. Fun, casual, social - and a great way to meet new people!
