Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina,
Laureano Ralon Facchina first moved to Canada on a student
visa on Christmas day, 1998. After earning his BA from Simon
Fraser University in Vancouver and travelling extensively
through Europe, he returned to Canada a permanent resident
in 2005.
An up-and-coming writer, interpreter, and translator,
Laureano is fluent in four languages and has written dozens
of articles on various subjects related to communication,
media technologies, culture and society.
He is currently an MA candidate, teaching assistant
and research associate at Simon Fraser University School of
Communication; his graduate research project is an assessment
of the effectiveness of Wikipedia as a pedagogical tool. Laureano
is also a dance aficionado and a regular habitué of
the Vancouver Salsa scene.
